Privacy Policy

ScrapeZen is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and website visitors. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection laws.

1. Introduction & Overview

ScrapeZen ("we," "our," or "us") operates as a Business-to-Business (B2B) Custom Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) provider. This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors of scrapezen.com and all prospective or current clients who engage our data extraction and normalization services.

By using our website or requesting a Proof of Concept (PoC), you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy. We operate in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the EU AI Act where applicable.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Directly from You

When you submit a "Request a Free Proof of Concept" form, we collect the following information:

  • Full name and professional title
  • Work email address
  • Company name and industry vertical
  • AI use-case description and requested data format

This information is used solely to evaluate your project requirements and respond with a tailored PoC proposal. We do not sell this data to third parties.

2.2 Automatically Collected

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect technical data including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, and time spent on each page. This data is processed for site performance analytics and security monitoring only.

3. How We Handle Scraped & Extracted Data

As a DaaS provider, our core service involves extracting and normalizing publicly available data on behalf of our B2B clients. We maintain the following standards for all extraction pipelines:

  • Automated PII Masking: All pipelines include automated detection and masking of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) before data is delivered to clients.
  • GDPR & CCPA Compliance: We only extract data from publicly accessible sources. We do not extract, store, or process data that would constitute a violation of applicable privacy laws.
  • EU AI Act Alignment: Our normalization workflows are designed to produce datasets suitable for high-risk AI applications, with documented data provenance and quality assurance checks.
  • Human-in-the-Loop Verification: Final datasets are reviewed by trained data specialists before delivery to ensure compliance and accuracy.

4. Cookie Policy

Our website uses cookies to improve your experience, measure performance, and deliver relevant advertising. We categorize cookies as follows:

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable core features like page navigation and saving your cookie preferences. These cannot be disabled.

Functional / Preferences Cookies

These cookies remember your choices — such as language or region preferences — to provide a more personalised experience on return visits.

Analytics / Performance Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site — which pages are most visited, where visitors come from, and how long they stay. This data is aggregated and anonymous. You can opt out via the cookie banner on your first visit.

Marketing / Advertising Cookies

These cookies track your visits across websites to deliver targeted advertising via Google Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager. They allow us to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and only show ads relevant to your professional interests. You may opt out at any time via our cookie consent manager or your browser settings.

5. Your Privacy Rights (CCPA & GDPR)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data from our systems.
  • Right to Rectification: Request that we correct any inaccurate information we hold.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to our processing of your data for direct marketing purposes.

California Residents — CCPA

If you are a California resident, you have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to:

  • Know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
  • Delete your personal information
  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: ScrapeZen does not sell personal information to third parties. However, certain cookies used for advertising purposes may constitute "sharing" under CCPA. You can opt out via our cookie consent manager.
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@scrapezen.com. We will respond within 30 days (GDPR) or 45 days (CCPA).

6. Data Security & Retention

We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure:

  • Secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.3)
  • Access controls restricting data to authorised personnel only
  • Regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments

We retain your contact information submitted via the PoC form for a maximum of 24 months, after which it is securely deleted unless an active client engagement requires longer retention. You may request earlier deletion at any time.

7. Contact Us

For any privacy-related questions, data subject requests, or concerns, please contact our data team at hello@scrapezen.com. We are committed to resolving any concerns promptly and transparently.

This policy is subject to change. We will notify active clients of any material updates via email and will update the "Last Updated" date above.
